With no support in sight, the protection of Beirut’s architectural heritage has been solely the responsibility of NGOs and private owners. But with the sad reality that the LAW No194, which forbade any real estate transaction or demolition in the area affected by the blast, was not extended, this leaves our heritage and identity endangered.

Our Response: The Heritage Revival Fund

With funding for reconstruction drying up, together with The House of Christmas, our implementing partner in this sector, found that the only way to protect these historical structures is to turn to the private sector for partnership in repurposing these buildings, giving them a new life and protecting their features and history while creating jobs and supporting the local economy.
